Sliding Centre

The track at the Whistler Sliding Centre ― all 1,450 metres of it ― has been called the fastest in the world. It's technical, tight, tricky… and if the thought of careening down ice at speeds touching 135 km/h doesn't send you racing for clean underwear, you can give it a try.

Built for the 2010 Olympics, the track, set high above Whistler Village on the flank of Blackcomb Mountain, runs two adventures for those with a daredevilish twist to their DNA.

The Skeleton Sport Experience is a two-run, head-first rush down the bottom third of the track, your chin hovering inches above the ice. Still with me? Don't worry; you'll get a thorough orientation, plenty of safety tips, a very substantial helmet and the thrill of a lifetime. Through six corners, you'll reach speeds approaching 100 km/h, assuming you aren't dragging your feet and digging your nails into the track to slow yourself down. You won't be.

But if you somehow feel safer with the illusion of bodywork surrounding you and the padding afforded by three other bodies hurtling through space, give the Bobsleigh Sport Experience a try.

You and two others will be piloted by a professional through the lower half of the track. As gravity takes hold, you'll accelerate towards 135 km/h through 10, G-torquing corners until, all too soon, it'll be just a memory and bragging rights.

C'mon, you know you wanna.
